A Meeting by Candlelight
In the stillness of night, beneath the trees of Mázindarán, candle flames illuminate the path of reunion. This painting offers an artistic interpretation of the meeting of Quddús and Mullá Husayn, honoured with the title Bábu’l-Báb, at Shaykh Tabarsí—a moment filled with longing, reverence, and spiritual fellowship.
Mullá Husayn walks beside the horse carrying Quddús, while their companions join the welcome with candles in their hands. The exchanged gaze of the two figures forms the quiet heart of the scene, as though, within the silence of the forest, their hearts speak before words are uttered.
The candles do more than light the way. Each flame evokes a faith that preserves its radiance through adversity, and a love that illuminates others through the giving of its own light. Their warm reflections along the dark woodland path recall the hope and steadfastness of those who gave expression to their faith through their lives and sacrifices.
This painting is my artistic interpretation of that encounter—a tribute to Quddús and Mullá Husayn, and to the enduring love through which they are remembered
