On one side, traditional life, ceremony, dance, horses, buffalo, and a profound relationship with the land reflect a living cultural heritage. On the other, education, medicine, research, agriculture, industry, and renewable energy represent progress toward the future. Flowing through the mountains, the river unites these worlds, suggesting that advancement can be achieved without leaving identity and ancestral heritage behind.
The rising sun and soaring eagle evoke hope, freedom, dignity, and a brighter horizon. This artwork pays tribute to a culture that remains living and resilient, and to the generations building Alberta’s future while honouring the heritage that continues to guide them.
