Mother of the Universe
Inspired by the Chinese calligraphy of Farzam Kamalabadi
Mother of the Universe is a contemplative work inspired by the Chinese calligraphy of Farzam Kamalabadi and transformed through color, texture, and abstract movement into a meditation on the origin of existence.
At the centre of the composition, the bold black calligraphic form stands with strength and stillness. It appears almost suspended within a luminous field of violet, as though emerging from a space beyond ordinary time and matter. The surrounding gold flows along the edges like primordial energy—suggesting light, creation, and the invisible force from which the universe is born.
The contrast between black, violet, and gold gives the work both gravity and radiance. Black represents mystery and the unknowable depth of existence; violet evokes spirituality, inner awareness, and transformation; while gold suggests illumination, sacred energy, and the eternal presence of creation.
The fluid textures surrounding the calligraphy resemble waves, clouds, or cosmic currents. They create the impression that the central form is not static, but alive—continuously giving birth to movement, matter, and consciousness. In this sense, “Mother” is not presented as a human figure, but as the universal source: the nurturing, creative principle from which all life emerges.
This artwork is a visual dialogue between calligraphy and painting, between ancient wisdom and contemporary expression. By reimagining the calligraphy of Farzam Kamalabadi, the artist invites the viewer to pause and reflect upon the silent origin that connects humanity, nature, and the vast universe.
